CurrentDeputy Chief, 2016 – PresentOfficer / Sergeant / Lieutenant / Captain, 1998 – 2018For over 25 years with the department, I have been promoted through progressive leadership roles, culminating in my current role as Deputy Chief since 2018 overseeing a 254-member police force protecting and serving the city of 111K+. A few selective contributions include:Develop/manage dashboard’s providing real-time tracking of operational metrics for each Investigative Bureau work group. Carefully analyze threats/trends and adjust operations to maximize the department’s response based on actionable intelligence.Optimize the team’s performance, ensuring all personnel receive the training, coaching, resources, and support to excel. I have significantly improved recruitment and hiring despite the negative national trend, to continue fielding a talented force. Handle local and national media relations to maximize community confidence.Organize and manage security for high-profile events, which include presidential visits, concerts, protests, sporting, events, and more. Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies to prepare for natural disasters, organize/manage threat responses, and to preserve continuity of operations. For a few major initiatives I have led include:Built a large-scale Child Abduction Response team to launch a mission-critical, highly successful public/private partnership. Launched a Community Outreach Unit that combines law enforcement resources with outreach workers to assist with critical issues such as homeless, mental illness, and drug addiction. The program is recognized as the new standard for communities dealing with quality-of-life issues, finding treatment alternatives, while achieving positive outcomes.Rolled out a regionwide Violent Crime Reduction Unit that coordinated with public and private entities across a broad geographic area, including collaborating with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
