About John Dewhurst
Dr. John E. Dewhurst has 31 years of experience in the polyurethane industry. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Chemistry from the State University of New York at Fredonia and his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of New Hampshire. His industrial career started at Mobay Corporation (now Bayer) where was a member of the Analytical/Environmental, Isocyanate and RIM Elastomer Groups. At Mobay he participated in the development of RIM systems for the Pontiac Fiero body and the introduction of internal mold release technology for automotive and non-automotive RIM systems. He is currently a Research Associate at Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., in the Corporate Science and Technology Center. At Air Products he has been involved in development programs for cast elastomers, water-based release agents, catalysis for flexible PUR and rigid PIR foams, catalysts, internal mold release and chain extenders for RIM, raw materials for waterborne polyurethane and epoxy coatings and most recently, a non-polyurethane project, monomers for 157 nm photoresists. He holds 30 patents in the areas of new isocyanates, polyols, chain extenders, catalysts and internal mold release agents for RIM. Dr. Dewhurst is also a proponent and teacher of Taguchi methodology of statistical design of experiments.Specialties: Isocyanate chemistry, polyurethane formulations, polyurethane catalysis, internal and external mold release, polyurea formulations, reaction injection molding, Taguchi methodology of experimental design.

Linstromberg and H.E. Baumgarten, 5th Ed., D.C. Heath and Company;
