About John Kinney

John Kinney helped create the PACE (“Property Assessed Clean Energy”) financing industry. He was the Founder and CEO of CleanFund in 2009, where he financed over $300 million of clean energy and completed the first public securitizations of PACE bonds. CleanFund was an Inc 500 Company and recognized as one of the top 100 Impact Companies by Real Leaders. John left CleanFund in 2020 and recently bought the company back from investors with a new strategy to develop white label PACE programs for commercial mortgage lenders.Prior to CleanFund John was the founder and CEO of Greenline Industries, a biodiesel company that opened 20 plants in 5 countries before selling at the beginning of 2008. Greenline was one of the top 10 fastest growing clean energy companies in the US according to Inc Magazine. Mr Kinney was also the founder and CEO of Club One, a chain of 120 athletic clubs sold in 2005. He has been a board member of several private and public mission-oriented companies. He was an employee at Bessemer Venture Partners and Bain & Company. John has an MBA, MS Engineering, and Human Biology degrees from Stanford.
