As a Boeing 747 Captain for Qantas International, I had the privilege of leading a team of highly skilled professionals in providing safe and efficient air travel to passengers on some of the longest and most iconic routes in the world.My role required me to manage complex flight operations, navigate varying weather patterns and time zones, and ensure strict adherence to industry regulations. It also demanded strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to make critical decisions and manage potential crises to ensure the safety and well-being of all onboard.This was both a challenging and rewarding experience that provided me with invaluable skills and experiences that have served me well throughout my career in aviation. It was also a privilege to fly 'The Queen of the Skies' with such amazing colleagues for Qantas, the world's second oldest airline.

As a Captain on the B767 with Qantas, I had the opportunity to experience the diversity of airline flight operations in the aviation industry. One day, I could be leading a team through a solid four-sector domestic day with short turnaround times and a tight schedule. The next, my duty could take us on a voyage across continents and cultures to Shanghai or other international destinations.All in all, my time as a B767 Captain with Qantas reinforced the need for flexibility, adaptability, and quick thinking in managing unexpected challenges that can arise in the aviation industry. It was a very dynamic fleet, and it would be remiss of me not to compliment the highly professional and supportive people I flew with.

As a First Officer (Long Haul Deputy Captain) and Second Officer with Qantas, I operated various models of the Boeing 747 aircraft, including the 747-100, 747-200, 747-Combi Main Deck Cargo, 747-SP, 747-300, and 747-400.

In addition to my fiduciary duties as Secretary of the Australian and International Pilots Association, my focus was Strategy and Legal. Ensuring the prosperity of both the members and the company through mutually beneficial outcomes. In doing so, I helped play a key role in strengthening the Association's reputation, as a leading voice in the aviation industry.

As the initial cohort approached completion of the Swinburne University Bachelor of Technology in Aviation, the course founders approached myself and Qantas, requesting my involvement as a Flying School Liaison Pilot to the airline.I was responsible for mentoring and running practice interview panels, ensuring that graduates emerged with the necessary skills and cultural alignment to succeed in the industry.Subsequently, I was invited to sit on the Industry Accreditation Panel for the course. By ensuring alignment of the graduates' skills and culture with the industry's requirements, I helped bridge the gap between academia and the aviation industry, ultimately benefiting all parties.My roles on the Industry Accreditation Panel and as a Flying School Liaison Pilot reflected, not only my dedication to the development of future aviation professionals and the industry as a whole, but Swinburne University's commitment to delivering a course of both the highest relevance and standard.

As a Regional Airline Pilot at East Coast Airlines in New South Wales, I gained valuable experience flying the Embraer EMB 110 Bandeirante aircraft. Through this role, I developed my skills in operating in regional environments and gained a deeper understanding of the crucial role these services play in providing essential connectivity to more remote communities. I recognise and respect the significance of regional aviation in supporting access to vital services, including healthcare, education, and business opportunities, as well as social connectivity. This experience has been invaluable throughout my aviation career and I continue to utilise it in my current roles as a mentor and industry advisor.

At Civil Flying School Stillwell Aviation, I was invited to establish and run Australia's first Specialist Aerobatic School following their acquisition of the Bellanca Super Decathlon Aerobatic Aircraft dealership. Leveraging this aircraft's unique features allowed us to perform training in positive and negative g-force manoeuvres, including outside loops and inverted spins, which were previously unavailable in a scalable way. As part of this initiative, I created and taught a universal recovery technique from unusual attitudes and flight states, and developed strategies to recognise and prevent entry into those states. This course was well ahead of its time and later became known as Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT).In addition to the aerobatic school, I was also responsible for re-establishing and running Civil's Instrument Flying Training School, which had been in abeyance for five years. During my time there, I trained and certified pilots on various multi-engine aircraft types sold by Civil's Aircraft Sales Division. This included conducting charter operations on the Gulfstream Commander Jet Prop.Throughout my tenure, I conducted numerous low-level aerobatic displays to showcase the Decathlon's capabilities for the dealership, earning an endorsement from the aviation regulator for my professionalism, skill, and adherence to regulations.

As the coordinator and stunt pilot for the Australian Broadcasting Commission (ABC) TV series 'Locusts and Wild Honey,' I was responsible for overseeing the aviation stunt sequences required for the production. This involved liaising and coordinating with the amazing team at the ABC on all aspects and managing flight operations. The required areas covered were concept development, risk assessment, preparation and rehearsals, permissions and permits, safety measures, execution and filming, and post-production processes. It is essential to follow these considerations and steps in all aviation stunt projects to ensure the safety of everyone involved, the successful execution of the stunt and an outstanding film production.

As a flight instructor, I specialised in teaching sports aviation, with a particular focus on aerobatics. In addition, I re established formation flying training at the school. As a charter pilot, I operated various Cessna models. I also conducted low-level aerobatic displays for the Cessna Aerobat dealership.
