In 2007 we noticed a sharp downturn in business with the economic situation that was looming. it was time to scale down and unfortunately we had to lay off drivers and vehicles.However by getting involved with The Utility Warehouse in 2005 as an Interdependent Distributor on a part time basis. Mainly at the time to help build up a residual income to supplement my pensions for the future. I was able to carry on with Interlink on a much scaled down way, which I continued to do until in January of 2010 when I suffered a life threatening Triple A Aneurysm which lead to a year being unable to work. I had a further operation in December resulting in a another 3 months rest. Without the residual income from Utility Warehouse I would not have survived as I was unable to receive any state benefits even the State Statutory Sickness Pay as I have been Self Employed for most of my working life.During my period of sickness my Utility Warehouse team continued to grow without any input from me. I continued to get paid for work I had done in the early years and it also increased as my team grew. I was commissioned into 3RWF in1969 and served in various positions, Platoon Commander. RSO Company 2ic and Company Commander I then took up a Staff position at HQ. Wales (SO2 G4) on a semi full time basis. I was seconded to RMONRE(m) as Adjutant for a period of one year after which I went to RSME on a YO's course (at 40) which I successfully completed and was re- commissioned into The Royal Engineers. The Ritz was a popular seasonal seaside Restaurant specialising in party catering supplying up to 600 meals per day during the summer months. We always used Fresh foods and did not resort to Frozen Food with the exception of peas and Fish.In 1981 we converted the Building into a small Shopping Mall comprising 9 retail units and a first floor Restaurant.
