Comcast Spotlight is the advertising sales division of Comcast; in 2008, Spotlight had revenue of $1.6B, which represented 11% of Comcast’s operating free cash flow. John was responsible for an annual $580M expense profile and $100M in annual capital expenditures and led a 190 member finance/accounting team and 40 member human resource team supporting 3,500 employees. He built effective partnerships with Comcast corporate and senior leaders, was a key participant in all Division strategic decisions, and directed all finance, human resource, and legal operations. In 2001, Vulcan Ventures purchased the company and it became known as The Sporting News Radio Network.John directed all financial and administrative activities of the Company as well as the billing and traffic department. He interfaced with sales management and national sales representative to enhance revenue realization from network and local spot inventory and created trusted relationships with senior lenders and the investor group.

New World Television was a Broadcast Television Station Group covering approximately 14% of U.S. television households. In 1997, Fox News Corporation purchased the company. As Vice President of Finance, John co-directed the financial operations of thirteen major television stations with annual revenues of $440M and broadcast cash flow of $175M.He interfaced with station management on revenue generation, operations, and marketplace activities, co-led the divestiture of two of the group’s television stations which yielded $425M in proceeds, and designed and implemented a financial tracking model that resulted in the identification of significant revenue and cost saving opportunities.

John managed the financial operations of a partnership owned by Paul M. Hughes, Veronis, Shuler & Associates Inc., and Smith Barney Inc. The Partnership owned two television stations: KUTV Salt Lake City, Utah and WOKR-TV Rochester, N.Y. John also served as Vice President and Controller of WOKR-TVIn March 1995, both stations were divested, yielding a significant investment return to the partners.
