Composer / MusicianFaceless Forces Of Bigness Jan 2003 - PresentToronto, Canada AreaModular analog synthesis with its endless potential for recursive- generative music making drives the sonic component of FFoB. Each performer creates and shares voltage based compositional elements with the other. This network integrates with the generative video engine to create nuanced improvisations in 4 channel surround sound.Using Touch Designer and Resolume, the generative video will explore meaning-making in the contemporary climate of digital media. Using the methodologies of manipulating text in avant-garde writing, the visual component of the FFoB performance will work generatively from the sound performance with images and text from the news, blogs, tutorials, and other social media. It will interrogate contemporary digital media, how they work, what role the author and reader play, how authority circulates. It will deploy self-reflexivity as a strategy to symbolize symbolizing—staging the use of language and image to create meaning - the materiality of the experience becomes “content.”
