As a Market Intelligence Strategy Consultant, I was constantly immersed in all facets of global economic trends. Our mission was to update all key stakeholders throughout the company on the current global economic landscape and how it related to our business. This lended itself to measuring global headwinds and tailwinds, encouraging commodity managers to maximize opportunities and minimize risks throughout our direct and indirect spend categories.My direct spend responsibility included a portfolio of base and minor metals such as nickel, zinc, cobalt, titanium, chromium, magnesium, manganese, silicon, tantalum, rhenium, hafnium, zirconium, molybdenum, tungsten, lithium and rare earths. Total global spend across these metals was in excess of $1 billion annually. Owning this space included building sophisticated databases and understanding the global producer base at a deeper level than the competition. Measuring global supply and demand was an imperative aspect of this duty. Of equal importance was maintaining a deep understanding of physical metals markets which included maintaining contact with a global network of producers, traders, brokers, warehouses and analysts.

Communicated with key decision makers to facilitate mutually beneficial business outcomes. Created reports on a quarterly basis to update the Board of Directors on all facets of the minor metals space, including revenues, profits, global supply/demand balance, market segmentation and forward-looking strategy.

As an intern, I was tasked with developing a reliable, quality-minded sourcing base for a group of minor metals which had not yet been included in the portfolio of metals products offered by the company - namely molybdenum and tungsten. Over the course of just 3 months, several new producers were approved through our system and customer base and we expanded the list of metals to include tantalum and niobium.

As a Deposit Sales & Service Representative, I skillfully developed strong client relationships in personal banking. This included being an expert in a full line of deposit products. I positioned myself in the community by becoming a member of the Midland Area Chamber of Commerce, eventually becoming an important piece of the Legislative Affairs Committee where I joined community members in encouraging local and state legislators to create a hospitable environment for economic growth through small businesses in the Saginaw Bay Region.
