The mission of The Commons Law Center is to is to revolutionize access to basic legal services, education, and support for under-served Oregonians (people earning less than 400% of the federal poverty level). In the process, we provide robust practical training for law students, new lawyers, and paralegals.We fill the access to civil justice gap for people who qualify for legal aid but still can't find help, as well as people who don't qualify for free legal services but can't afford market-rate attorneys. We offer flat-rate and sliding-scale legal services at an affordable price, using process innovation and leveraging technology partnerships to keep our costs down. In the process, we train our new lawyer fellows on substantive law, and also help them learn the skills they will need to profitably and sustainably operate a public-interest-focused law practice. Current programs include Family Law, Asset Preservation, Estate Administration, and Tenant Eviction Defense. We leverage philanthropic gifts and community partnerships to create the financial runway needed to stand up new legal services programs (or expand into new geographies), with the goal that each program will become self sustaining within the first 1-2 years of operations.The Interim Executive Director provides general support of all aspects of the organization, including general operations, finance, team engagement, philanthropic development, and program support. Consulting role for a major shoe and apparel company in the client's technology team supporting enabling functions (Finance, HR, Legal, and others). Worked closely with the director of planning and operations to stand-up functions for this new position, including improved utilization of a company standard portfolio dashboard reporting tool, overseeing the team's adoption of a new resource management tool for project managers, streamlining the department's talent recruiting process, and developing methods to tie talent recruiting to performance management for improved talent analytics. I also implemented and maintained a Kanban board (card wall) to track and manage departmental activities.

I primarily consult on legal operations improvement and legal project management, including implementing Lean, Agile, and Kanban techniques for back-office workflow optimization and Scrum project management techniques for lawyers and legal departments. In short, I help lawyers and legal departments get out of "firefighting" mode, get ahead of their workloads, and focus on activities that add demonstrated value to the overall business mission. Once in-house departments are focused on their internal value stream, I then work with them to better manage their external legal spend using legal procurement and vendor management techniques.I also serve as in-house counsel for ACME, where I handle vendor and client contracts, intellectual property matters, corporate law, employment law, business disputes, and other general legal issues.
