“Change is inevitable. Growth is Optional.” – John Maxwell ══ INSPIRATION ══ I grew up in a single parent home with my mother and two sisters in Vacaville, CA. My mother taught developmentally disabled adults for over 30 years. This had a huge impact in my life as a teenager! Her constant empathy and compassion inspired me to help others as she did. This foundation led me down the road to helping people, and demonstrating this same empathy and compassion in all my endeavors with them. Overall, I was extremely fortunate. I had an amazing mother, grandparents and the support of our faith community. They all supported me and encouraged me to make good decisions. I knew I wanted to pay it forward because kids were in the same situation I had been in, but they didn’t have anyone to help guide them. When I turned eighteen, I began participating in youth outreach through coaching, mentoring, speaking, and reaching out to teens. I could connect, listen, and relate to kids deemed “troubled, disconnected, and emotionally disturbed.” I understand the emotions of their situations and can share my own to inspire them. I spent almost a decade and a half working full-time in the Social Work field. I focused my energy on various areas: Psychiatric hospitals for children, Youth Detention facilities, Level-15 Group homes, alternative schools for troubled teens, and for 3+ years I worked as a social worker and therapist. For over 6 years I also worked at a University in Student Development and served as an academic advisor for college students. My wife and I are recent empty nesters who love to hang out with the family and enjoy my boy’s sporting events like college baseball and college football games. I am adventurous with food, exploring diverse foods and original restaurants. I adore exploring new small towns, cities, states, and countries and meeting new people.
