About John F. Burkart

I am passionate about the opportunities of digital transformations when leaders engage employees to participate - focusing their attention on improving the customer experience, process improvement, and leveraging data to provide insightful/actionable customer and operational information increasing revenue all made possible using technology. Having worked as a leader at Essex for over 25 years from the IPO to my recent delivery of a world class operating platform as COO, I have had the opportunity to share my vision, inspire and lead 1,700 amazing employees to achieve industry leading results from finance, capital markets and private equity to operations, asset management, portfolio management, revenue management, IT, digital marketing, data science and advanced analytics. I started as a consultant for the IPO in 1993. In 1996, I accepted a permanent position as Director of Finance working for the CFO where I obtained the company’s first unsecured investment grade rating and completed over $1B in debt financing. Then, I formed the first discretionary multifamily fund in the REIT industry backed by the “dream team” of institutional investors which achieved an IRR of over 50%!
