About John Ford

23+ years of full-time experience in Occupational Health and Safety. My philosophy regarding health and safety has been influenced by the thinking of some of the global transformational leaders such as Eric Hollnagel, Sidney Dekker and Todd Conklin and am a strong advocate of Safety II and Safety Differently. While legal requirements must always be met, it’s important to give people freedom within a framework. To understand that there is variability in work and work tasks, and that ‘work as done’ is nearly always different to ‘work as imagined’. The agility to change systems and processes to meet ever-improving ways of doing work is critical. My qualifications include:• A Master’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety• The NEBOSH International General Certificate in OH&S with distinction; and• Diplomas in Business, Management and Accounting.I am a:Professional member of the New Zealand Institute of Safety Management (NZISM), a Verified Health and Safety Advisor with the Health and Safety Association of New Zealand (HASANZ) and a Certified WorkSafe SafePlus Assessor. Also a certified lead auditor and a lead ICAM investigator.

Listed skills include Occupational Health, Safety Management Systems, Accident Investigation, Hazard Identification, and 28 others.
