Nine month contract role.Technical lead responsible for the implementation and support of ISO45001 and expansion of ISO14001 across NZ.Support sites with the implementation of these standards into an integrated management system. Support the transition as a key contact for NZ sites for the ISO roll out.Provide for improvements to the integrated management systems in the respective sites. Leading internal auditing for SHE with a focus on the NZ sites’ in readiness for the Classification Society audit in March2019.Implementation and further development of compliance management regarding SHE to fulfill regulatory requirements.Resulted in successful certification in ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and successful reaudit of ISO 9001.

City Care: a progressive organisation involved in Construction (Building and Civil), Maintenance (Water, Waste Water and Parks) and Facilities Management. My role was to strategically drive all aspects of H&S within the business and to lead the company to achieve excellence in all aspects. It was also to lead the health and safety team of ten comprising three health and safety managers, a health and safety systems and communication manager, a health and safety coordinator, ACC and injury management specialist, three health and safety advisors and a business administrator. Some of the successes included developing proactive leadership initiatives including Safety Interactions, Critical Risk Checks, Worksite General Inspections, significantly increased worker participation in Job Safety and Environmental Analysis (JSEA) and company-wide Take 5 Hazard ID’s. Also significantly improving Contractor H&S Management and implemented a comprehensive Permit to Work system. Introduced 41 performance indicators with the majority being lead rather than lag. Managed a budget in excess of $1.5m.Memberships included the NZ General Managers Safety Forum, Christchurch City Council / Christchurch City Holdings Ltd Safety Leaders Group, and the Business Leaders Health and Safety Forum.Later focuses included researching into how the Safety II philosophy could be translated for workers and the neuroscience of safety; how people think, why they do (or don't) work safely, and how we can use this knowledge to help enable people to make good decisions to increase their conscious awareness of risk.

Role included determination of strategic H&S direction, tactical initiatives and to manage all aspects of H&S. I was responsible for the development and implementation of the H&S Management System while leading a team of 11 H&S professionals. At the conclusion of my tenure the project had exceeded 37 million man-hours and $2.2b. I worked alongside the Earthquake Commission (EQC), liaised with WorkSafe and aligned the requirements of Fletcher Building and the Fletcher Construction Company with Fletcher EQR. We achieved tertiary accreditation in 18 months in the ACC Accredited Employer Programme.

I was responsible for all aspects of Health & Safety relating to investigation, development and construction of new wind and hydro electricity generation sites and major irrigation projects. I was involved in the construction of two wind generation sites at Hamilton and Wellington and 12 potential future generation sites. Goals and focuses included - Zero Harm, Risk Management, Environmental Sustainability and Contractor Management. I achieved zero lost time injuries within the Business Unit during my two years and four months with Meridian.

I was responsible for the Health and Safety Management of all divisions including Master Trade, Mico’s, Cory's Electrical and Equipsafety. At the time the company comprised of 1200 employees in 124 branches, 2 Devanning Centres, 2 Regional Offices and the Christchurch National Office.Significant achievements included instigation and implementation of six major Health & Safety initiatives. Achieved a 35% reduction in Lost Time Injuries over 12 months plus a 43% reduction in Motor Vehicle Incidents. ACC WSMP Tertiary status achieved and maintained.

I was responsible for the provision of all Occupational Safety consultancy services and delivery of training for clients, and the profitable operation and sustainability of the Safety Division.

I was responsible for coordination of all aspects of Health & Safety on-site including: Hazard Identification, Recording, Control, Monitoring and Review; Management of Hazardous Substances; Emergency Management; Incident Investigations; Injury Management; Rehabilitation and Case Management; Health & Safety Training; Auditing and Inspections; New Staff and Contractor Inductions; Compliance with ACC Accredited Employer requirements; Monthly Reporting and Communication of Information.

I was responsible for coordination of all aspects of Health & Safety in conjunction with Company and Farm Manager requirements. PIC achieving Tertiary status in the ACC Accredited Employer under my Management. (Note: At the time PIC was a wholly owned subsidiary of Mainland NZ Ltd)
