The Society of Retreat Conductors was established in 1924 as a group of priests of Anglo-Catholic tradition who shared a common discipline and whose purpose was to study the Spiritual Exercises, train retreat leaders, give retreats in the Ignatian tradition and run retreat houses. The SRC is now an ecumenical body of experienced retreat givers who welcome into membership all retreat givers and spiritual directors who are willing to work within an Ignatian ethos.

Many of us are aware of the presence of hate, fear, bigotry and anger in our society – and see a growing lack of compassion, not least for those who some perceive ‘don’t belong’. And we might even be aware of the way these feelings can begin to fill our own hearts. It’s not always a virtue that’s easy to express. The new online ecumenical Spiritual Association, the Companions of the Compassionate Hearts of Jesus and Mary (CCHJM), seeks to enable members (Companions) to express compassion by nurturing this virtue. Companions adopt a simple Rule. They seek to: spend time each day in the presence of Compassionate Heart of Jesus;  express compassion in a practical way;  make a compassion Examen (reflection) each day; recognise the value of the Sacrament of Confession in seeking to fulfil the psalmist’s plea: ‘Make me a clean heart, O God; renew a right spirit within me.’It’s also to become and Associate. Associates don’t take on the Rule but accept the Aims and Purpose of the Association and promise to seek ways of fostering compassion in their hearts and living out of that charism. They will also receive Compassion Quarterly, the publication of the online Association.It doesn’t cost anything to join (except to work on being a compassionate person and spreading compassion in the world!) and there aren’t any meetings to attend. I offer three facilitated Supervision Groups for Spiritual Directors which meet approx. every three months in Romford and Chelmsford, Essex and am available on a one-to-one basis for anyone seeking Pastoral Supervision.

I offer Spiritual Direction to individuals as well as the Pastoral Supervision of groups and individuals.

The Course, which has run for a number of years, is on offer again as from September 2014. It is designed to introduce people to the basics of Christian Spirituality and is experiential rather than academic but includes a clear teaching element.

'Encounter' is the re-designed Course in Spiritual Direction (The London Course in Spiritual Direction) offered at the London Centre for Spirituality. The brochure is available and we welcome applications for entry in September 2013. The programme is inspired by ancient and contemporary practice in Christian spiritual direction, modern psychological insights and the Wisdom tradition found in all religions and cultures. Encounter is a practical and experiential programme led by an experienced team of spiritual directors and supervisors with expertise in spirituality, theology, pastoral care and psychotherapy. Encounter will be held at the London Centre for Spirituality from 6pm to 9pm with year 1 on Tuesday evenings, year 2 on Wednesday and year 3 on Thursday.

The aim of the London Centre for Spirituality is to provide a Christian response to the contemporary thirst for meaning and purpose. The Centre, based in the heart of the City of London, offers a calm and spacious environment and is a resource for prayer, exploration, training and development. Our programme offers a wide range of courses, meditation and discussion groups and resources for all interested in spirituality – churchgoers or not – both in the local and in the wider community. We host several spiritual direction training programmes, and our facilities are used by professionals and organisations working in related areas including counselling.

St. Andrew's Church was built in 1862 and continues to be a community church, bearing witness to the Catholic Tradition of the Church of England. Today the church seeks to offer a liturgy rooted in that tradition whilst seeking to communicate within our generation. It welcomes all through its doors and have affirmed themselves as an inclusive congregation.

I was ordained as a Franciscan Friar and remained a priest-religious until my Release from Vows in 2002.
