Responsible for data capture/storage & communication systems. Digital Flight Data Acquisition Unit (DFDAU), Digital Flight Data Recorder (DFDR), Aircraft Condition Monitoring System (ACMS) & Aircraft Communication Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) fell under my purview. Gather requirements and create customized ACARS database to meet company needs.Develop customized ACMS databases for B757 & B737NG fleets to support engine, APU and system performance & fault monitoring/reporting. Developed ground based programs to parse, analyze and react to datalinked reports. Programs developed in Unix shell script, JAVA & Python.Readout DFDR data and develop reports & plots in support of event, incident & fault analysis.Member of Flight Operations Quality Assurance (FOQA) Steering Committee & Subject Matter Expert to the FOQA office for DFDR data analysis.Member of company Accident Investigation team; participated in NTSB Flight Recorder Group & company boards to review incidents.

Review daily maintenance activity for assigned fleet types. Focus was preventing schedule interruptions by intervening when negative trends in system performance emerged, or when resolution of repeat faults could not be made through existing troubleshooting guidance. Root cause analysis of system faults and adverse performance trends. Proposed and developed comprehensive corrective measures.Our group had the privilege of being trusted with several special and sensitive projects within the company (ETOPS, RVSM, company & industry policy and industry standards work). Developed MS Access based application to manage department report gathering from company host applications, track projects & tasks, report project status & department statistics. Participated in development of a structured troubleshooting approach that included training and formal policy incorporated into our maintenance procedures manual (GMM).

I enjoyed the respect of my peers and management due to my professional and competent approach to the job. The expectations and responsibility placed on me and a group of co-workers were quite high given our age. We were expected to effectively troubleshoot problems on complex systems and make choices to support safe and on time operations. I believe my curious and retentive nature made me a good fit for the assignments I received during my time as a hands on technician. I performed scheduled line maintenance level servicing and inspections. Traveled to "Tour of Duty" station locations to support short term contracts literally all over the globe. Part of a Fast Action Response Team called to repair out of service aircraft; many times as a solo technician sent to remote locations (this was a particularly challenging and rewarding experience for me personally).
