About John Wooten
Proven Leader in Tax-Exempt Financing, Municipal & Investment BankingTurning a complicated financing into something anyone can understand takes finesse. For more than 25 years as an investment banker, I have been doing precisely this, advising corporate and nonprofit clients and walking them through the intricacies of tax-exempt financing. Ultimately, I’m building a solid revenue base for my firm, while helping clients grow in the direction of their dreams. I enjoy building rapport with a wide variety of prospects and educating them every step of the way about how this specialized type of financing can save them money, without having them feel overwhelmed. My dexterous team of six at Wells Fargo handles about $10 million in revenue, consistently exceeding targets under my leadership. As the Head of Municipal Placements, my hard work on behalf of my clients never stops. Instilling a superior level of customer service in my team is one of my hallmarks.Let me give you an example: in 2010, a federal tax provision favorable to tax exempt bonds was expiring at year’s end, so demand to close transactions was intense. Normally, our volume of bond transactions averaged 100 per year. Heading into December, my team processed 100 transactions in a little over a month, adding more than $10 million to the bottom line. Few banks have specialized teams covering the small - to mid-sized market segment, which sets me and my team apart from the competition. Though this is a high volume business, my customers feel that their priorities are my own. I gladly travel across the country to meet their needs. My ideal clients include:⇒ Manufacturing companies looking to build, expand or acquire facilities⇒ Nonprofits needing loans for capital expenditures⇒ Waste and recycling companies with capital expense needsIf you are looking for a banker with long-term expertise in tax-exempt financing, look no further than John.Wooten@wellsfargo.com or call me at 704-410-0804.
