2014 – 2015 Senior Technical Program ManagerI created and managed a program around mechanical, electrical, and structural engineering of the AWS data centers, with a mission to improve stability, cost containment, and standardization. Globally impacting, the projects under my program were sponsored at the VP and Director level, and the project teams were composed mostly of Principal and Senior engineers. The program introduced new hardware specifications, new designs into the build process, mapped the design process lifecycle, and spun up projects to retrofit existing sites to conform to the new specifications.2013 – 2014 Manager, Technical Program ManagementAs the Global PMO Manager for Data Center Global Services, I partnered with the leadership of other infrastructure teams to plan and deliver data center capacity in AWS Regions around the globe. I directly managed a team of four regional managers, collectively managing 21 TPMs across five countries on four continents. I was responsible for translating the needs of the internal customer into strategic direction and goals for the PMO, staff recruitment and development, budgeting, and end-to-end ownership of the data center build process including relentlessly driving for cycle time, cost, and quality improvements.2011 – 2013 Technical Program ManagerI built a program around infrastructure implementations for Points of Presence. I hired, trained, and managed an international team of three additional TPMs. My team managed global implementations of POPs for customer-facing AWS services and internal services requiring peering and edge locations. I led internal business partners in the development of and continuous planning for the overall global program delivery, including capacity planning, site selection, Internet transit capacity, compute and network hardware selection, establishment of new business and tax identities, and build-out of the network and server hardware on-site.
