About John Gehlert

I build and deploy software based products.I'm currently on my companies Devops team deploying applications with Kubernetes on an AWS cluster. This is helping to facilitate standardization of software development practices, tool usage and tech stacks. I manage CI/CD pipelines with Gitlab and also use gitlab to coordinate sprints.I'm a big fan of React having built numerous features for a variety of web applications. I prefer using Typescript in these projects as it ensures code bases remain maintainable as they grow.I've built a few large projects in python, utilising a variety of libraries and external API's. Python and Gitlab have taught me how to automate pretty well any routine task. In my spare time I'm using python and excel for data analysis to execute trades for second hand bikes on facebook market place which is rather profitable.

  • Gehlert.Io
    Self Employed
    Gehlert.Io Jan 2015 - Dec 2015
After negotiating a deal for a second hand mountain bike, I became interested in the Idea of selling the bike for a profit. To my surprise being good at negotiating and selling a product can be awfully profitable and in the months after my first sale I ended up trading close to 15 bikes and cars online for a rather substantial profit. This venture did however introduce me to business ethics which motivated me to enrol in Computer Science at Adelaide Uni to learn to develop a product I truly believed in instead of just selling products that make money and $%#& the customer. Trading goods online taught me about developing business relationships to outsource work, managing your books to stay in the black, marketing your product to the right audience, as well as how to and how not to sell.
  • Time To Renovate
    Construction Laborer
Time To Renovate Aug 2014 - Sep 2015
