The Director of Impact plays a key role in successfully integrating Impact into new products and strategies by overseeing the integration of impact assessment into existing investment processes. The role involves the creation and maintenance of an Impact philosophy and framework that can align with client needs and serve to position FT as a leader in the space. Day to day responsibilities include impact scoring of individual investment opportunities, impact deal sourcing, portfolio-level reporting and thought leadership. I am also responsible for helping to grow the larger Impact platform across Real Assets and Alternatives and work closely with other investment professionals to manage new impact products.

• Lead the eight-person, long-only manager research team. Began leadership role in 2013 with a four-person analyst team. Tasked to completely rebuild the long-only manager research process in order to improve quality, breadth, and depth of research with a focus on efficiency and institutional-quality analysis and output. Have received universally positive feedback on changes from other senior leaders and the analyst teams. Buy-rated funds have on average outperformed their benchmarks net-of-fees since 2013 despite the very tough environment for active management.• Co-lead portfolio manager on five and back up manager on six multi-asset fund-of-fund portfolios, all branded “Franklin Nextstep Funds.” Play primary role in fund selection and fixed income asset allocation, support equity, alternatives and cross-asset allocation and risk analysis. Played critical role in product design and launch, and continue to play critical role in fund on-boarding, marketing and sales efforts around the world. • Created and maintain robust Exchange Traded Funds (ETF) analysis process that includes sub-ratings for Fees, Liquidity (primary, secondary, underlying and swap basket), Product Design, Product Implementation, and Organization & Operations. I have also spent much of my time researching and attempting to build an Impact Investment capability at Franklin Templeton which would include a focus on private markets, robust Impact measurement and strong portfolio management. My want to work on impact comes from personal interest.

• Conducted fixed income manager research on proprietary and third party managers. • Conducted global fixed income asset class research with responsibility for tactical and strategic views on all sectors and regions based on analysis of fundamentals, valuations and technicals. Created basic framework for analysis and view presentation that is still used today in the groups Global Investment Committee meetings.• Had co-portfolio management responsibilities for a global fixed income sub-advised mandate with ~9% outperformance since inception in 2011.

• Conducted fixed income manager and asset class research. Research included in-depth analysis of people, process, risks, returns, operations and organization with a strong focus on left-tail risks and on separating luck from skill. Sourced managers, conducted due diligence meetings and created Research notes for products listed in the US (40-act and 3c7), Dubai, South Africa, Malaysia, Canada, offshore (UCITS), and for London trusts and separate accounts.• Portfolio analyst responsibilities for US Portfolio Manager including optimization work, trade analysis and backup trading for target date, target risk, static allocation and 529 retirement accounts. AUM for US-registered products ~$10 Billion.• Conducted global equity manager research in 2008 and early 2009.

The Futures program is a management/financial training program at Franklin Templeton. While in the two-year program I had six four-month rotations in Corporate Tax, FT Portfolio Advisors' Portfolio Operations Group, two rotations with Franklin Global Advisers (the management group for the Franklin family of funds), Corporate Communications and US Product Management & Development.
