I have worked in many different realms of communication. Throughout six years in higher education, I worked as a journalist, a creative and academic writer, and an educator. ✍ Beyond that, I worked at an industry-leading specialty running company, Fleet Feet, that prioritized high-level, one-on-one customer service. This involved the communication of dense technical information to customers, as we did not simply push products onto customers, but rather made informed suggestions about what products were most relevant to their needs. 🌟 👟 I participated in the growth of my Fleet Feet store location from COVID-era lows to new record highs, and during that time, I also elevated myself to a management position. 📈 That, too, demanded new levels and types of communication: onboarding and training new employees, managing a diverse team in a high-volume and fast-paced work environment, resolving all customer questions and concerns, and collaborating across departments like Inventory, Marketing, and corporate headquarters. 🔗 Following that, I challenged myself further by moving to Marseille, France for the Teaching Assistant Program in France. While I hold a Bachelor's degree in French Studies, this experience forced me to brush up on my French proficiency 😅 But it also taught me the value of communication in bridging gaps -- geographical, cultural, linguistic, and otherwise. 🌉 In my new role as a Generative AI Associate with leading data engineering company, Innodata Inc., I am thrilled to be bringing the skills I've developed into one the most critical industries of our time, and to be developing new skills! 😎 In my first few weeks, I am learning how to assess LLMs and chatbots for accuracy, fluency, coherence, and voice, and helping to make these tools as effective as they can be.I am always excited for the opportunity to synthesize my skills and push myself into new territory. I believe that good communication powers the core of not only our industries, but our relationships, our perspectives, and our futures.
