John Hanley is currently Chief Experience Officer and Executive Vice President for Peak Bank and Idaho First Bank in Boise, Idaho, and he is based in Lawrence, KS. John oversees customer and user experience for Peak Bank, a national digital brand, and marketing for parent company Idaho First Bank and its seven locations in Idaho and Oregon. John joined Equity Bank in 2012 as director of marketing and led the Equity Bank and Brilliant Bank brands as SVP and Chief Marketing Officer from 2016 through 2023, including branding, advertising, communication, public relations, digital strategy, and customer experience for the company. John is a member of the American Bankers Association advisory boards for the Certified Financial Marketing Professional Exam and served as chair and emcee for the ABA Bank Marketing Annual Conference from 2019-2023. John is a regular speaker at industry marketing events.John began his career with the News-Times in Danbury, Connecticut and worked as an editor at the Kansas City Star, before serving as marketing manager for Kansas-based Sunflower Bank from 2004 through 2011, with one year as product manager for the AAFP in Leawood, Kansas.John earned his executive education and CMO concentration from Northwestern University in 2024. John graduated with a journalism degree from Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, and attended the University of Iowa College of Law. He is currently President of the Lawrence (KS) Humane Society, leading a volunteer board of 13 and a shelter routinely named Best In Class nationally, with profitable fundraising results, a loyal donor base in the thousands, and a Pet Resource Center assisting the Douglas County community.
