I have specialised in tax and trust law since 1984. During that period I spent 3 years working in a senior management role in the offshore trust industry, first with Standard Chartered Bank and then with the Bank of Bermuda.I commenced my career with the national law firm Kensington Swan and became a partner in 1986. I commenced practice as a specialist tax and trust barrister in April 2001. I provide tax and trust advice to a wide range of New Zealand and offshore corporate and private clients, and not-for-profit organisations. The majority of my work is cross-border/international in nature; particularly in relation to the use of New Zealand structures in international wealth planning.I am a frequent presenter at conferences in New Zealand and internationally, and have authored numerous publications on tax and trust law issues. In the recent past I have spoken at STEP Conferences in Auckland, Hong Kong, Singapore, London, Brisbane, Melbourne and San Francisco.I was the founding Chairman of the New Zealand branch of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), and have served as a STEP Worldwide Council member.
