John builds and invests in value-based healthcare companies that delight patients, contribute to a healthier society, and generate capital-efficient returns. Prior to founding Sage Health, he was integral to building, backing, or leading some of the biggest names in the space, including ChenMed, ArchWell Health, and OneHome (acquired by Humana).As a veteran senior leader at ChenMed, he was responsible for de novo growth, acquisitions, and payor partnerships. Since 2014, he’s introduced global-risk primary care to 25 markets in 16 states, overseeing 66 de novo center launches, 5 group acquisitions, and 2 major health system alliances. He’s been active in many of the most notable transactions involving risk providers as a board member and Operating Partner with Waypoint Capital and advisor to other private equity funds. The launching point of his career included 8 years in strategy or investment roles with CVS Health (Aetna) and the Corporate Executive Board.Sage Health was born weeks after his father was discharged from a challenging, month-long hospital stay that bore all the hallmarks of a broken healthcare system. Since then we have set down a path to launch the new standard-bearing senior model for the U.S.John is active in non-profit leadership at the Chautauqua Institution as the founding Chair of their NowGen Advisory Council and a member of the United Nations' Hospitality Committee in New York. His work has been featured at the White House and published/cited by top-tier thought leaders, including the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), Sanford C. Bernstein, and the Brookings Institute.
