PresidentThe Guild Of Television Camera Professionals Nov 2015 - PresentThe Guild of Television Camera Professionals (www.gtc.tv) is an independent international organisation, formed in 1972 and now with over 1000 members in countries as far afield as Australia, South Africa, the USA, Russia, Singapore – and the United Kingdom. John Henshall was a founder member when the GTC was formed in 1972. At the time, he was a cameraman at BBC Television in London. GTC members are professional cameramen and camerawomen who operate in all areas of television from corporate production through news and current affairs to documentary and drama. The GTC is a non-profit organisation, run by a Council of volunteer television professionals. It is financed partly by members' subscriptions but also by considerable sponsorship from a number of equipment manufacturers and suppliers, both large and small, from throughout the industry. As a result, the GTC offers a channel for manufacturers to consult with working cameramen when designing new equipment. The GTC is an authoritative source of advice and information on all matters concerning television camera operation. The GTC aim is to preserve the professional status of television cameraman and to establish, uphold and advance standards and expertise within our profession. It runs special workshops to ensure continuing professional development and publishes two magazines – 'Zerb' and 'GTC In Focus'. -
