Highland Park Presbyterian Church provided an excellent place for me to learn how my work serves others. I had the opportunity to closely mentor students during their transitional summer going into 8th and 9th grade. Throughout my time at HP Pres I,-Delivered weekly sermons to both middle and high school students on teachings of the Bible-Attended meetings, coordinated events, and ideated new ways to connect kids with the church -Traveled to Birmingham, Alabama and Colorado Springs, Colorado on missions to serve their communities. I learned every human being has unique gifts and talents they use to steward our society.

Fajita Pete’s Park Cities opened just a month before I joined the team, and days after I joined, the entire management staff had walked out in strike of the working conditions. Fajita Pete’s needed someone who knew the area and could work hard to step in and keep the new restaurant afloat. That person was me. Throughout my time at Fajita Pete’s, I worked and learned…- Front of house cashier and customer relations - Back of house preparing food and expediting orders- Washing dishes and delivering food for 250-350 hungry customers every night in a fast-paced high-pressure environment- April 2021 Employee of the month I learned to be patient in high stakes situations, and how to be decisive in making difficult decisions to put the customer and establishment’s needs over mine.

Camp Longhorn is a Family run camp along the Buchanan Dam that has been functioning since the 1940’s. The camp is enriched with tradition, and I was very lucky to be a counselor here for 2 years. Throughout my time at Camp Longhorn I,- Manage over 10 kids to a cabin for 3 weeks, serving as their guardian, mentor, and friend - Set up and ran 10 different activities per day- Create relationships with people from all over the country in a truly special place. I learned to be selfless. There are many times as a counselor you can take the easy way out or allow a kid to break rules. But at Camp Longhorn, this is not tolerated. It is imperative to work hard to serve not yourself, but the campers, and to love the camp that had been around long before me, and long after me.
