This would provide a link between a scalable quantum processor or memory and a long-distance optical connection, as would be required to make distributed quantum processor networks or as a fundamental component of a quantum repeater. This project brought together the expertise I had previously developed in both self-assembled dots and two-dimensional electron gasses, meaning I was in the ideal position to create a new hybrid device that would combine the best properties of each of these. -
