Project manager, program technical lead, and design manager for approximately >$200M in scope (spread over five separate projects involving five design firms, five general contractors, and one municipal government) to enable the continued ramp and expansion of Intel’s Ocotillo Campus. Partnered with the City of Chandler to design, develop, and construct a first-of-a-kind brine treatment facility in support Intel’s operations and to enable the city to further their water reuse strategy. The Ocotillo Brine Reduction Facility (OBRF), operated by the city, turns 1.4 million gallon per day (mgd) of Intel wastewater into 50 gallons per minute of waste and recycles 1 mgd of high-quality softened water back to Intel. The OBRF project was named the top environmental construction project of 2014 in the U.S. by the Associated General Contactors of America.Oregon: Managed the design and construction of the project’s central utility building and parts of the manufacturing area. Disrupted Intel’s traditional design and construction strategies by implementing rest-of-world practices for the procurement of a deionized water system, resulting in a cost savings of 87%. Assumed responsibility as the overall program manager for three months, leading a multidiscipline team to deliver a seven story office building; two levels of manufacturing space; and the central utilities building.

Led an international team on two continents through a capacity, capability, and risk analysis for the ultrapure water and wastewater systems at Intel Fab 68 in Dalian, China, in preparation for a manufacturing technology transfer from a US-based Intel facility. Developed a comprehensive, back-to-basics facilities capacity analysis model (bulk gases, HVAC, ultrapure water, waste systems, boiler/chiller systems, site water balance) to predict and understand potential or perceived capacity shortfalls. Use of the model avoided approximately $3M in facility retrofits. Coached and mentored local Chinese engineers tasked with troubleshooting facility system operations.

Enhanced the technical competency of the operations organization through mentoring on technical problem solving, optimizing system performance, and excursion remediation. Created several new supply chains to support Intel’s brand-new operations in Dalian in a timely and cost-effective manner. Supported the development of the Intel Dalian Environmental Impact Assessment submitted to the local, provincial, and central governments for project approval. Responsibilities included negotiation of corporate agreements; new product development to enable larger/cleaner and less-expensive water systems; maintenance and expansion of supply chain to support Intel’s growth roadmap; and development/execution of continuous improvement plans to reduce costs, lead times, and execution issues.
