    Elizaville, New York, United States
From pitch to presentation, I teach children 8-15 how to write, direct, act, shoot, and edit their own live-action film shorts. While participating in the filmmaking program, they are learning valuable life skills such as self-advocacy, communication, collaboration, compromise, and teamwork. I design a full-sized poster for each film, throw a full-camp premiere party, and present all of the films in an end-of-the-summer film festival in the camp's outdoor Greek theater. A week after the festival is an awards banquet where we hand out Scatico Oscars to participants, who also get digital copies of their movies and posters.

  • University Of Wisconsin - Baraboo
    Adjunct Professor
University Of Wisconsin - Baraboo Sep 2005 - Dec 2005
    Baraboo, Wisconsin, United States
I taught two classes to undergraduates: Period Acting and Historical Production Design. Additionally, I recreated the 1915 opening night of the Al. Ringling Theatre with Rida Johnson Young's hit musical "Lady Luxury" after finding the 200-page handwritten score that had been missing for 70 years. To make sure the event was authentic, I also hunted down the original stage manager's script, costume designs by the famed fashion designer Lucile (Lady Duff Gordon), the original Broadway production photos by White Studios, a rare Edison Blue Amberol wax cylinder recording of one of the songs, and a copy of the Governor's speech from 1915. I wanted it to be an event celebrating civic pride and created a community outreach program that involved over two dozen businesses to support the musical production at the theater and the gala at the Ringling Mansion. This event is documented in a 26-page article I wrote for the Shubert Foundation's magazine "The Passing Show," "Historic Movie Theaters of Wisconsin," and "Sweet Mystery: The Musical Works of Rida Johnson Young."As part of the Al. Ringling Theatre's World Cinema Festival (presenting noteworthy films from around the globe) I curated Hayao Miyazaki's "Tonari No Totoro" and moderated a post-film discussion with the audience.

Every year, Connections commissions new plays for young people to perform. The program brings together some of the UK’s most exciting writers with the theatre-makers of tomorrow. In 23/24, they are working with nearly 270 youth companies from every corner of the UK. Connections is open to any company of young people aged 13-19. I also wrote educational packets for educators and students studying for GCSE and A-level theater. Other responsibilities included teaching monthly workshops for professional directors and organizing the mobile productions of Wicked, Yaar! and JoJo the Melon Donkey.
