TL;DR: I am passionate about accelerating clean energy adoption through software. My wheelhouse is at the intersection of product and operations. I have a strong track record of success developing and supporting the platforms of two successful solar finance start-ups: Mosaic and ORKA. In 2010, I was running a video production company making screencast videos when I pivoted into software. My 4-year run at B2B SaaS start-up IdeaScale would be a crash-course in operations, customer support, sales, and product. I am proud to have been part of the founding team that helped scale IdeaScale to 25,000+ thriving international online communities.I began to feel an itch in 2014, when I acquired photovoltaics.com and created an LLC to dedicate my professional focus to solar. I redeveloped the popular solar news site SolarFeeds (sold in August 2019 ) and worked on a C&I solar marketplace concept at Photovoltaics.com. I joined Mosaic in a golden age of Bay Area solar start-ups. From its first resi loans through its first $2B, I managed originations and underwriting teams and eventually came to manage both internal and third-party Loan Servicing teams. Given my technical understanding and closeness to Engineering and Product through extraordinary growth, my transition to Product seemed like a natural one. In 2021, I joined the founding team of ORKA Finance as Product Manager. ORKA’s audacious vision was to create a frictionless point-of-sale experience for solar contractors and their small business owner clients who wanted to go solar. As PM, I collaborated closely with every area of business (finance, treasury, credit, ops, legal, risk, sales) to develop and enhance internal tooling and external user experiences. In a couple short years, ORKA saw $75m in requests for financing, and converted ~$45m to customers. With a strong platform, product, and operational foundation, ORKA was acquired by competitor Sunstone Credit in late 2023.While comfortable with the toolset and strategic mindset of a Product Manager, I am also able to get in the weeds myself or as the servant-leader of operational teams. I'm open to opportunities that leverage my technical skillset as well as my curiosity, empathy, and adaptability.I live in beautiful Burlington, Vermont where I work remotely from a comfortable home office. I am a devoted husband and father to 3 children born in two years (ages 8, 6, and 6). With or without them, I enjoy skiing, canoeing, skateboarding, and bicycling. I recently resumed hosting a radio show I began in 1998 and I volunteer doing web dev at WRUVfm.
