As the cornerstone for ADI’s secure trusted products / services and center of excellence, his team: successfully demonstrated a silicon based identity architecture with unique patented features and a disruptive identity based trust model capable of extending identity / trust from the “edge to the cloud;” the assessment and development of a secure silicon and identity products roadmap; the implementation of a secure silicon design and identity innovation center of excellence, a company-wide products / systems security assurance program; and the capture of several very strategic programs with disruptive cross market growth potential in both Government and Commercial applications. The team is becoming globally recognized as a major tech platform player in the emergent recognition for Identity and HRoT to bridge the gap from the hardware to the software in multi-layered security architectures. In 2016 as his final assignment, John completed the sale and integration of Sypris Cyber Security Solutions (CSS) to ADI as President of Sypris Electronics Inc. to enable the re-structuring and re-capitalization of the parent company, Sypris Solutions (Nasdaq/NM: SYPR). During his tenure at Sypris he successfully turned around the company’s operational performance, margins, and customer confidence. John continued developing the talent and team to navigate one of the largest down turns in defense spending history by implementing a strategy in response to emerging market trends in cyber security and focusing its’ electronics manufacturing on high margin niche products and subassemblies. Leveraging the company’s position as a pedigreed leader in cyber security (formerly Honeywell Military Encryption Systems) and working with strategic customers / partners, his team successfully innovated several disruptive dual use technology platforms for Government and Commercial applications. These resulted in obtaining significant Government development contracts which became the foundation for maturing a new class of products / services and building the team that became the Cyber Security Solutions business. John led a parallel effort as part of that strategy to successfully pivot these technologies into the commercial sector for IoT, Industrial Automation / Controls, Smart Cities, and Automotive. Engaging with Singapore, U.S. DoD, Japan, and others – the team successfully recognized the new products / business launch strategy which resulted in its’ commercial recognition and eventual sale.

As the President of Ducommun Technologies, Incorporated (DCO on NYSE) he was hired to consolidate six divisions which included the implementation of common operations / business systems and development of a growth strategy. He developed and led the team to successfully achieving 300% growth and record profits during his tenure. John transformed the organization product mix to increase the percentage of products with engineering content versus “build to print” manufacturing – a corporate goal for the analysts to expand their view of Ducommun and its’ growth potential. In 2007, the stock appreciated more than 70% as the company became more recognized for its’ engineering content and was voted by Forbes as one of the top 200 small caps in the United States. Through aggressive acquisitions and consolidation, John led his team to increasing the company’s diversity, financial performance, and ability to expand – developing the engineering organization to over 400 and implementing the related strategy, Tech / Prod development processes and systems. In order to further their competitiveness in commercial markets, John built a low-cost manufacturing greenfield facility in Thailand while also off-shoring some engineering tasks to India – a key element to successfully winning several Boeing Commercial platforms as a Tier II supplier and retaining several of its’ legacy products / markets segments.

As the VP Strategy and COO for Special Devices, Inc. (SDI), a leverage buy-out anticipating significant growth with the increasing regulations for airbags, John led the divesture of various business units and assets in order to improve liquidity and cash flow. Implementing six sigma and lean manufacturing, he transformed the company into world class manufacturing operations increasing productivity more than 60%, re-engineering the products to lower cost, achieving renown quality (<20ppm) and 100% on-time delivery. This journey required a cultural change and the participation of the entire organization as he led the implementation of lean, six sigma, worked closely with Japanese customers, and partnered with customers to innovate unique design changes and automation to meet price targets. As a leading manufacturer of automotive occupant safety systems in North America, he guided the expansion of the business globally starting up operations in Europe and Asia to gain market share. John successfully initiated a growth strategy into adjacent market segments and expanded the company’s portfolio leveraging several of its’ technology-platforms.
