John “JD” Downing is the Executive Vice President over Business Development at AP4 Group, a leading provider of power generation solutions and services. With over 33 years of experience in the industry, John is an expert in gas and steam turbine operations, digital controls, excitation, network OT and IT systems, and data encryption technology. He has been involved in projects and services at hundreds of power plants on five continents, delivering reliable and secure power to millions of customers.John started his career in the US Navy, managing and directing shipboard power generation and propulsion systems for eight years. He then joined General Electric as a primary installation, commissioning and startup engineer for over 20 large frame gas turbines. In 2009, he co-founded and grew a successful power generation electrical and controls corporation, which merged with AP4 in 2020 and he still serves as the Executive Vice President. John is passionate about ensuring the safety and security of the American people and the power grid, and he is a recognized subject matter expert and thought leader in his field.
