I Joined the implementation at Marshall Aerospace to provide Finance Consultancy on their new IFS Apps 10 multi-site roll out, providing customer training and facilitating workshops, working closely with the group finance department to develop processes that would work with all companies within the group.

Continuing my work I has started on this project with IFS, I joined National Grid Smart directly to become further involved in the project helping to embed the solution and finish the development of the XML network solution utilising Custom Logical Units and custom API's to process and error handle within the system.I also provided IFS Finance knowledge to the finance department to assist them with their day to day activities as they got used to the new system.

Returned to IFS as a qualified CIMA accountant to take a more senior position within the consulting organisation. I worked on a number of implementations in Project Manufacturing, Mining, Mineral Processing, and Utilities.I took an interest in new functionality such as Group Consolidation and visited the Swedish based R&D to learn more about this, as well as other finance enhancements at the time.For the last 18 months on worked more in a technical architecture role, working out how to make IFS work in the Electricity and Gas industry in the UK, developing XML messages to send out to the two networks, helping to overcome challenges for Meter installers who were using IFS remotely to report installations.

My role was to deliver IFS Applications 7.5 as ALE’s main business system, across 22 different country offices, reporting straight to the Group Finance Director. I have developed a contract management and project costing based solution to complement the existing use of IFS (plant and asset tracking) and replace existing financial systems. The main implementations of this solution were into the South African and Canadian offices where I visited frequently. In this position I took on the project management requirement of co-ordinating the internal resource as well as liaising with external contractors ensuring implementation deadlines are met. I also took a hands-on implementation role, producing end user documentation and delivering all finance related end user training. I also implemented and technically configured the IFS Touch Apps for Android and Apple smartphones, enabling key management to authorise purchase orders on the move.

Joining IFS as a graduate, I worked as an expert in IFS Administration and Security Configuration of the underlying Oracle database, capable of designing and implementing security structures to meet external auditing requirements (Sarbanes-Oxley etc). I learned how to use technology like Custom Events, in order to make the Product behave to the customer’s requirement without a full modification. I became an expert user of the IFS Data Migration component. I have carried out over 50 customer migrations of legacy data into IFS applications, and can also use the tool to create ad-hoc interfaces replicating business transactions and updating Status of Records. I was an advanced user of Crystal Reports, and have written numerous bespoke management reports as well as replacing IFS standard documents. I learned advanced SQL*Plus (oracle variant) skills and regularly wrote complex statements to ensure customers reporting requirements were metFrom 2009 I began as a Finance Consultant. I implemented IFS in to a number of business types; Project Engineering, Manufacturing and Distribution. I gained excellent knowledge of Company Setup, General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash Book, Fixed Assets, Business Analytics, Project Accounting, Project Budgeting and Forecasting and Travel Expenses. I also have a good understanding of other IFS modules that create financial postings.In my time at IFS I worked at 80 separate customer sites, predominantly in the UK, but also around Europe and South Africa.I gained experience of IFS 2000 all the way through to Applications 8 during this part of my career

I was employed in the Business Systems department where I worked on two separate Finance ERP (IFS -Industrial Financial Systems) implementation projects, plus providing support on existing finance systems. I created extensive user documentation for the new ledgers system, for seven European Sales Companies, whilst helping with data migration and development in the new system working closely with the IFS consultant. On the other project to replace the Purchase Accounting Control System, I carried out analysis work, identified gaps and possible solutions to remedy them. I was part of the Business Sign-Off Committee for this project. During this period I have gained some excellent user and administration knowledge of the IFS financials software, whilst also gaining supporting knowledge of the IFS Distribution.
