I am an education and curriculum development professional with 10+ years of vast experience in dynamic roles in the education space. I am passionate about fostering a creative and hardworking environment for students. I am adept at understanding student, family, and institutional needs, writing unique curricula, and delivering an unmatched learning experience that sparks positive learning outcomes. For the last 6 years, I have worked at The Co-op School. I am currently a middle school math and science teacher. In this role, I teach science, math, and literacy to 20 students in grades 6-8. I have developed and modified curricula for both in-person and virtual delivery in order to cater to all students’ learning styles.Prior to that, I served as founding head teacher. In this position, I taught 62 students in grades 4-5. I specifically focused on literature and writing and utilized assessments to establish benchmarks and track student growth. This resulted in increased scores on NWEA MAP test and advancements on Fountas and Pinell reading assessments.I earned a Master of Science in Education with focuses in Teaching Literacy & Childhood General Education from Bank Street School of Education. I also obtained a Bachelor of Arts in History with a focus in American History from Wheaton College in Massachusetts.Content development, data-driven instruction, and collaboration skills pave the path to be an effective educator. I seek innovative ways to capitalize on technology and current events to emphasize lessons. It is crucial to provide students with strong critical thinking skills to enable them to draw their own conclusions about their observations of the world. Please contact me at jkuckens@gmail.com if you would like to connect.
