Founder And CtoSos Technologies Jun 2009 - Jun 2011Our goal was to reduce the severity and occurrence of illness and death from Stroke by making it inexpensive and easy to diagnose the onset of strokes, and therefore enable its victims to get earlier treatment.We implemented the medically-accepted NIH Stroke Scale on a regular smartphone, enabling patients to quickly test themselves for the major indicators and symptoms of stroke, for example by using the device's accelerometer to test for muscle weakness, or the touchscreen to diagnose a loss of sensitivity in peripheral vision. If the test detected warning signs, a physician could be immediately connected with the results to provide further diagnosis and advice, and the patient's family could be automatically notified. We also developed a hardware sleeve that could fit around the device, and enabled additional tests such as hand strength.
