Kelvin Connect (KC) provides specialised business transforming mobile application services to the UK Police market. Fully acquired by Airwave in 2011, I was appointed chairman of the board in 2012.Kelvin Connect was an embryonic business employing 25 people with 5 easy stage customer contracts and revenues of £2m p.a.Key achievements:- Set out radical new strategic priorities for the business - redeveloping the user interface to adopt consumer based products (android, blackberry, windows) to broaden market appeal for product.- The customer proposition was redesigned to be focussed on helping customers improve their operational process, interfacing to back end crime and intelligence systems to provide seamless user experience.- Led the successful acquisition of multiple new Customer contracts, growing customer base to 16 police forces (35% market share), revenue tripled to £6m p.a. with ebitda from negative to positive £2m p.a.- Having established dominant market position, redefined commercial model to drive improved profitability.

Airwave is the UK public safety mobile network providing mission critical mobile communications to emergency and public safety users. Airwave has 300,000 dedicated users, employs 500 people and generates revenues c £0.5bn. Included responsibility for subsidiary companies Kelvin Connect Ltd and Airwave International and Airwave Germany.Key achievements:- Member of executive leadership team through complex period of restructuring, initially refinancing and then trade sale to Motorola. Through the period I was responsible for entire end to end operation of the business, from sales and marketing through to core network operations and service. - Responsible for presenting business operations to external investors and prospective acquirers of Airwave, as well as due diligence and management warranty leadership.- Responsible for leading the implementation of a three year complex transformation programme encompassing all aspects of the business from organisation, operations, supplier strategy, accommodation and culture delivering 30% cost reduction generating £50m per annum of improvement to cash flow. - Throughout maintained best in class operational focus, achieving stringent government KPIs and best in class customer satisfaction scores.- Delivery and operation of world leading mobile communication network ensuring effective operations of the London 2012 Olympic games.- Led major bid activity for significant government bids both in UK and internationally, securing a number of high profile deals in areas of professional services, mobile applications and rural broadband.

Responsible for developing and implementing Airwave's international investment strategy. Key achievements:- Established German subsidiary company Airwave Solutions GMbh, securing €6m pa contract advising German federal government.- Negotiated brand licence agreement in Australia, generating £1m over 5 years- Led multi party bid to secure PPP deal in Canada.

Responsible for business unit providing secure mobile voice and data services to the Civil Contingencies Responder organisations, including Fire and Rescue Services, Local Authorities, Environment, Transport and Utilities. Executive Committee member

Leadership of business unit providing carrier based voice and data services to the large Carrier market globally. Includes leadership of pan European sales and commercial development teams.
