The Next Wave was a weekly CNBC-TV series hosted by Leonard Nimoy that explored the merging of business and technology into its next wave, e-business. I was a frequent co-host, which meant guest expert, sitting with Leonard, elaborating on the show's topic by explaining the key concepts and trends, and asking questions of the business guests. I was invited to be co-host because I was creator and editor-in-chief of influential magazine E-Business Advisor, and because I had extensive on-air experience.While Leonard's on-air demeanor was similar to his Star Trek "Mr. Spock" role, in each episode I tried to get him to laugh at least once, and usually he did. (Off-air he was warm, smart and engaging.)

I co-created (with general manager Ken Gaines) and directed KNEW Radio's very successful format, mixing adult hit music (California Gold), unique adult talk (California Girls, California Guys), and hard-hitting newscasts. Also, I was on the air, interviewed many famous performers and celebrities, and MCed concerts and shows. It was exciting and gratifying to have earned such wide responsibility over a major market radio station. At KNEW I was in charge of programming, production, operations, engineering, and FCC compliance. For a time I also oversaw technical operations at Metromedia's Los Angeles stations KLAC and KMET (technical union employees had walked out on strike). At the time, Metromedia was the fourth-largest broadcast group (after NBC, CBS, ABC). My station KNEW was Metromedia's West Coast flagship radio station (WNEW New York was the East Coast flagship). Metromedia, led by founder John Kluge, also owned major television stations (which later formed the Fox Network), outdoor advertising, famous entertainment and sports brands, a record company, and more.
