I am a senior Director, Board Advisor and Chartered Engineer with a 40+ year career in executive leadership roles, dedicated to the development of cutting-edge technologies and complex, innovative products. I have built up an extensive portfolio of skills that have enabled me to guide effective commercial decisions, support the execution of strategic plans and increase revenues.I am now using my wide-ranging experience to help early-stage businesses to grow and flourish. I launched John Liley Consulting (JLC) in 2022 to provide expert advice and mentoring to small technology companies with big growth plans, such as university spinouts, start-up and scaling businesses in the energy efficiency, clean technology and climate change spaces. I am passionate about using my deep understanding of technology commercialisation, patents, go-to-market strategies, the start-up ecosystem and international markets to steer business success and create new opportunities for wealth and prosperity.My entire career has been focused on the delivery of excellence, first as graduate apprentice, design engineer and team leader at Rolls-Royce, as commercial director working with international companies in the energy sector, and now as mentor and advisor for new technology start-ups. In every case, I have drawn on deep reserves of financial, governance and technical skills, risk management expertise and communication strengths. The results speak for themselves – I have negotiated contracts with world-leading companies, gained significant project funding, successfully penetrated international markets with contacts across North America, Europe, the Middle East and Australasia and enhanced company profiles.I am now seeking new openings as a non-executive director, board advisor or trustee, where I can contribute a broad range of valuable skills and expertise, deliver value, relevance and impact and play a decisive role in a company’s ongoing success.
