LINC CentreMay 2009 – January 2011 - Volunteer TeacherMarch 2011 to Present - Supply Teacher- Water the SAFSS community garden and prepare the soil for planting and harvest- assist full time TESL teacher on LINC literacy and level 1 program- use charts, maps, notes, diagrams, picture handout and flashcards for visual learners- use dialogue, cassette / CD recordings to enhance students' listening & speaking ability- use pair and group work activities for students to understand authentic real-life English (kinestheic learning) e.g. crossword, word search, board game, dice game, maze- need to think of various and creative ways to teach students' basic pronunciation (alphabets, day, month and other simple words)- assist students to use ESL English software (ELLIS Basic/Intro 3/ Master Pronunciation 3 & Live Action English Interactive) to learn basic English and to learn basic keyboarding skill- helping students to be aware of ellision when pronouncing simple English phrases- attended and assisted in LINC literacy teachers' presentation at SAFSS- adhere to the revised LINC Literacy Component 1997of the LINC Curriculum Guidelines- Use various themes in teaching as suggested from LINC guidelines: statutory holidays, housing, family life, media, education, transportation, commercial services: banking, household items, furnitures, pharmacies, post office, phone system, etc; geography, history, government & community services, employment, health & safety, Canadian law, leisure - refer to Canadian Language Benchmarks 2000: ESL for literacy learners- refer to Canadian Language Benchmarks 2012: English as a Second Language for Adults
