As the Software Platform Leader and managing the Software Systems Engineering team we provided broad capabilities to teams as it was composed of Software System Engineers, a Scrum Master, and myself being the Software Platform Leader giving architecture guidance. This team provided process, requirements decomposition and technology guidance to a variety of teams, some delivery teams but also to business teams for projects early in their inception.Being the Software Platform Leader and interacting with other teams including firmware, hardware and systems engineering on a continued basis resulted in delivering innovative solutions across all disciplines resulting in increased sales of physical products.

Created Unified Logging to deliver Logging as a Service (LaaS) and allowing companies to focus on building solutions that addressed customer needs and not foundational logging needs. Unified Logging was a cloud-based service that does the heavy lifting for logging, notifications and analysis resulting in exceptional software quality and observability. In addition, Unified Logging provided pre-built connectors for different languages and environments which brought customers to market quicker.

As the Founder of Clydesdale Software our team specialized in building software products and giving guidance on all aspects of the software development product lifecycle.Notable Successes- For a CRM software company provided an assessment of Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tooling, agile process recommendations, feasibility of leveraging the cloud and a software architectural review. These recommendations were presented to the leadership team and gave a third-party view of paths forward.- For a Denver based startup defined company direction as well as technical strategy for an intelligent sms feedback system. Used agile project management to define releases and user stories and an initial backlog to drive to a successful prototype.- For a leadership training company provided a turn-key solution for online learning and application hosting. Worked closely to give guidance on how to own software products and bring new products to market resulting in increased revenue.- For a union, replaced a legacy system for tracking member information. The new system uses a central server and a smart client to facilitate internal operations resulting in an optimized workflow for employees.

For a major mobile hardware manufacture led an initiative for the private fleet trucking industry allowing integration with existing mobile hardware that communicates via a satellite infrastructure. The result of this opportunity was a new revenue stream for the company which enabled future growth.Being the product owner included defining the product through themes and user stories and assigning business value. In addition, defining acceptance criteria and presenting the user stories to the development team was critical to the success of the product. As the product owner, once user stories were fully completed, I reviewed the stories making sure they successfully met the acceptance criteria.

As the Mobile Product Architect, I led a team using agile methodologies to build a new mobile framework leveraging the .NET Compact Framework. This framework provided design time support in Visual Studio as well as enhanced runtime optimizations for mobile devices. The result of this initiative was a framework which enabled partner developers to create mobile solutions based on Blue Dot technology quicker and deliver to market faster.

As a Solution Architect leading teams using agile methodologies, providing technical guidance and implementation support was a critical part of each project resulting in successful delivery.Notable Successes- For a ski resort company led a team to create a Windows Communication Foundation SOA services layer to handle messages from a BizTalk Enterprise Message Bus that were then saved into a central customer profile repository. This resulted in an efficient integration path forward between systems.- For Microsoft Development and Evangelism Group developed PowerShell commandlets to manage Microsoft Virtual Server. The PowerShell commandlets communicated to Microsoft Virtual Server via Windows Communication Foundation which then talked to the Virtual Server DCOM component. The outcome was an easy way to administer virtual machines via PowerShell.

As a Solution Architect leading teams using agile methodologies, providing technical guidance and implementation support was a critical part of each project resulting in successful delivery.Notable Successes- For Microsoft Patterns and Practices team actively participated in developing the Composite UI Application Block (CAB) using agile methodologies in Redmond, WA and remote. The development of this application block involved the use of Visual Studio 2005 and a deep understanding of the component model architecture. The CAB enabled Microsoft partners to develop solutions at a quicker pace thus decreasing time to market.- For an airline company, developed mass email distribution application using Microsoft CMS, .NET and Linux. The solution allowed users to create distribution lists and emails to reach potential customers resulting in increased sales.- For an email spam filtering company, developed Outlook COM add-in using ATL/C++. The COM add-in consisted of close workings with the Outlook object model and extended MAPI. This add-in enabled Outlook users to identify spam email to be filtered out of their inbox thus enhancing productivity.- For a mobile solutions provider, developed a back-end interface with Oracle AQ to process incoming and outgoing requests. Eclipse was used as a development environment and Web Sphere as an application server. New modules were written in Java to support the use of Oracle AQ.
