I'm a computer science author, educator, and researcher. My books include "9 Algorithms That Changed the Future" and "What Can Be Computed?". I'm passionate about the role of artificial intelligence in our society. Career achievements include:-- 19 US patents on novel computer technologies -- 4 books (3 published, one forthcoming: AI Alive, under contract with Princeton University Press)-- >50 publications on AI, machine learning, computer vision, distributed systems, and other areas of computer science-- 7 years at HP and Microsoft, focused mostly on research, and also including role as software architect for a large-scale distributed storage system-- 17 years teaching computer science as a college professor, including courses on AI, machine learning and pattern recognition, databases, operating systems, networking, programming languages, theory of computation, and data structures.
