Developing a new Java / Oracle PL-SQL / WebLogic / Spring / Struts 2.0 / YUI based commercial credit card processing system.

Java and .NET enterprise web development including requirements gathering, web architecture, system design, Java, JavaScript, CSS and JSP coding, unit testing and deployment for various clients of a data warehouse and business intelligence consulting firm. Technical design and creation of system architecture and design documents for multiple Schwab Institutional Technology projects. Lead teams of geographically distributed onshore and offshore developers in the completion of numerous Java / JSP/ J2EE / WebLogic / TopLink / Oracle / WebServices project and numerous C# / .NET / MS-Enterprise Library / Oracle projects. Lead onshore and offshore code review session. Responsible for reviewing all code as well as hands-on coding of several portions of various Java and C# projects. Additional responsibilities include the mentoring of new employees and contractors at remote locations.Recent projects include; creation of a multi-threaded C#/.NET application for secure file transfer via PGP-FTP and SSH protocols used for the transmission of data to load the portfolio management systems of Schwab Institutional’s clients. Other projects include numerous regulatory-driven enhancements to the Java / JSP / Struts / J2EE / TopLink /Oracle-based SchwabInstitutional.com website. Implementation of various WebService interfaces to associated back-end brokerage systems. Projects included several related to reporting securities transactions to the DTCC. Familiar with DTCC file formats.

Completed numerous projects to enhance the SchwabInstitutional.com website and the various backend applications (implemented in Java/J2EE/Struts/Oracle and C#/.NET) that are used to drive the business of the Schwab Institutional division of Charles Schwab & Co., Inc.

Senior Java/Swing developer responsible for the ongoing design and enhancement of Schwab’s Java/Swing-based Data Center Automation Engine (DAE). The DAE is an in-house developed multi-tiered application used to simplify and standardize the day-to-day tasks involved in the operation of Schwab’s two main data centers and the 3000+ servers and network devices that power Schwab. The DAE uses a high functionality Java SWING graphical user interface and various Java daemons running on Linux servers to implement the bi-directional communication to and control of an assortment of Data Center system management tools. From the DAE’s GUI Schwab’s data center operations staff are able to select and run an assortment of tested and certified jobs against UNIX, Linux and Windows servers as well as the various routers and switches that make up the data center environment. The DAE makes use of Java, SWING, JDBC, Perl, XML and SSH as well as a MS-SQL Server backend database to accomplish its goals.

Technical Team Lead on the project to convert all of Schwab’s Windows Server monitors from the NetIQ AppManager product to the IBM Tivoli product. This involved porting code from Visual Basic to VBScript, working with and administering Schwab’s new Red Hat Linux-based Tivoli environment, as well as the coding, testing and production deployment of new customized Windows Server monitoring programs for the over 100 distinct Windows Server-based applications running on over 2,000 individual Windows Servers at Schwab.

Senior member of the three person team responsible for all Windows Server monitoring within Schwab’s IT organization. Architected, installed and deployed the NetIQ AppManager Windows Server monitoring environment at Schwab (this was Schwab’s first centralized Windows Server monitoring system). Engineered and deployed Schwab’s first Active/Active MS-SQL Server cluster.In this role I was the sole developer on the team and personally designed, developed and tested all the Visual Basic programs (monitors) that run on and are used to verify the health of the 1,300+ Windows servers supporting the 100+ Windows Server-based applications running at Schwab.

Manager of a staff of three programmers working with Microsoft Internet Information Server, Visual C++, Microsoft SQL Server, Visual Basic, and legacy platforms and tools ( a Meditech / MUMPS system ) to create clinical and financial data capture and reporting applications for UCSF/Stanford Health Care. Responsible for the architectural design, specification, and implementation of new solutions for the needs of our enterprise. Also responsible for the configuration and support of real-time interfaces between systems, the recruiting and retaining of skilled programmers, team building, performance reviews, project definition and day to day project management, as well as a sizeable portion of the programming tasks associated with the production of new applications.

UNIX System Administration, Sybase Database Administration, and Visual Basic, SQL, Korn Shell and Perl programming, for the installation and configuration of Stanford's Clinical Data Repository - a Sun Solaris / Sybase SQL Server / Windows NT Client-Server application. In this role I was also responsible for the configuration and support of our Oacis Gateway++, a C++/Sybase SQL Server based HL-7 Interface Engine used to connect Stanford Hospital’s various systems and to provide real-time data feeds and data transformation services between the Solaris, Mainframe and other systems (such as the Cerner Clinical Lab system) at Stanford University Hospital.

At this nine person startup I was involved in Visual Basic, Visual C++, Microsoft SQL Server and InstallShield programming as well as Windows NT Server / MS-SQL Server configuration, installation, on-site training and support for our product the Medical Digital Assistant ( a wireless, 3-tier client server, pen computer based, clinical point-of-service product).I was also the Release Manager and the Customer Support contact for the rollout of @digimed.com - a Web-based clinical outcomes measurement product. Responsible for the programming of our software setup/distribution kits, product quality assurance, as well as performing all customer support for our subscribers.

UNIX (Sun Solaris) installation and configuration, Sybase SQL Server database installation and configuration, on-site technical instruction and programming of real-time HL-7 application level interfaces to legacy systems in the support of installing the Oacis Gateway++ HL7 Interface engine and the Oacis Clinical Data Repository.

Senior member of the custom programming and installation team for the Allegra Patient Accounting System. Responsible for; organizing on-site customer sessions to analyze and determine end user needs, the creation of functional and technical specifications and the development and testing of product enhancements in "C", VAX-BASIC and Digital Command Language (DCL). Also responsible for; data Extraction Transformation and Load (ETL) activities to support the conversion from legacy systems, support for new system go-live, remote on-call support and on-site technical training of the customer’s IT staff.
