• Consult with other team members on best practices using distributed micro services using hyper-media in an OO fashion. Provide design concepts, documents and implementation examples for client eventing, dynamic branding, database and table structures, REST APIs and payloads.• Design and build a client-side single page application (SPA) using Sass, Slim, Jade, AngularJS, gulp, webpack that interacts with an array of micro services built by other team members. the SPA is completely responsive in that it works on mobile phones, tablets, and desktops.

* Led the design and development of of multiple components that make up a virtualized video processing, transcoding and transport system. Developed Front-end components using Ruby, Rails, Slim, CoffeeScript, AngularJS, Bootstrap, and Postgres. Designed the durable message queue infrastructure between subsystems using Redis with RabbitMQ and Faye (web sockets) to clients and browsers.• Deployment and maintenance of SAAS Rails application and ruby components to multiple environments (production, staging, integration, etc...) on AWS.• Selected and built tools and components used in engineering and QA testing of web applications. * Directed a team of lead engineers responsible for delivering print drivers and print utility software for consumer ink-jet printers on Mac, Windows and Linux operating systems.• Led the architecture and design of HP’s new cross-OS (Mac, Linux, Windows) print driver for 2010 and beyond, targeting printers for consumer and SMB market segments. • Dramatically improved software quality within the lab by partnering closely with Software Quality Engineering, defining software test points and designing ‘testable’ software. Encouraged continuous integration, unit testing, and test driven design resulting in significantly lower defect rates than previous software projects. • Technical consultant to lab and section management teams providing guidance for resource, budget, technical, and staff issues and direction. • Trained and mentored software engineering development team to resolve difficult coding problems, identify software patterns, and implement quality improvements.

* Responsible for developing and delivering components of the HP International Printing Solution (IPS) that allows customers to use the Unicode capabilities in their NetWeaver SAP software to print many languages in one job to HP printers, MFP’s and and digital copiers. • Invented and implemented “Cascading Fonts” that allows for glyph replacement within a laser-jet during a print job if the current font does not contain the correct glyph. Using agile development methods delivered new functionality every two weeks durning project and delivered final product two months ahead of schedule with no known defects. • Coordinated the design and development of HP’s Mobile Printing SDK for Pocket PC version 1.0 through 3.0. • Spearheaded evolutionary changes to HP’s Appliance Printing Development Kit (APDK) by re-factoring functional C-code to object oriented C++ and simplifying the system while adding new features. Removed complex, unwieldy data structures and tables; used design patterns to create a voting system to select printer proxies at run-time that is robust, easy to maintain and test. The APDK is used throughout HP in other software products such as Zeus (the mobile printing SDK), HPLIP (the Linux imaging and printing system), Pipeline (the cross-OS print driver), and hundreds of third-party, open-source applications and embedded systems.

* Designed and developed HP Windows NT password filter across 9 account domains without defects in conjunction with IT Risk Management requirements. Filter runs as a service on every logon server within HP. Approximately 6000 lines of commented, tested code written in 7 weeks - no defects have ever been discovered. • Identified ‘Security Hotspots’ for Vancouver Site and Inkjet Information Systems. Engaged application teams to ensure HP’s data was appropriately secured as new web applications, databases and systems were implemented. Consulted with development teams on best security practices and trained developers on security options and protocols. • Delivered the first HP Windows domain infrastructure as a member of world-wide HP Windows 2000 Architecture team. Migrated Vancouver site from Novel Network to Windows NT.

•Created the strategy and design for the “Next Generation” voice systems (PBX, Voice Mail, and Computer Telephony Integration). Planned, developed and implemented automated voice administration and monitoring systems. Reduced PBX administration by 170 hours monthly. • Led the architecture team that designed the first Windows NT infrastructure in HP and provided project management for Windows NT implementation at Vancouver site.
