Fayetteville, Arkansas Area

Created value as the leader of the Quality function for the 14 divisions of Pace Industries, the largest privately held die casting company in North America with 4000 associates generating $620 Million in sales producing aluminum, zinc and magnesium die castings for the automotive, commercial and consumer products industries.Created Pace’s Zero PPM Process Guidelines which provided detailed requirements for achieving quality through process management at Pace. Developed the Zero Culture Management Guidelines which created a culture of quality through application of Lean management techniques. Introduced the APQP process in support of Pace’s strategic business objective to enter the automotive die casting market. $250M in automotive business launched.

Joplin Missoui Area

Managed the business turnaround of Leggett & Platt’s $55 million FWP Division consisting of Talbot Industries in Neosho, Missouri, and DTA (De Todo De Alambre) in Aguascalientes, Mexico. US customers - Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Michaels, TJ Maxx, Target, Frito Lay, Ford Motor Company. Mexico customers - PepsiCo, Bimbo and Copple.Eliminated $2.5M in annual operating loss the first year by implementing Lean techniques such as value stream mapping to reorganize the manufacturing flow into work cells and connect the paint line with product packaging and assembly operations at both the Missouri and Mexico plants. Results: reduced manufacturing overhead 20% and improved on-time delivery from 70% to 96% while supporting a 20% increase in sales.

Carthage, Missouri

Leader of the Lean Manufacturing / Business improvement initiative for the $250M Store Fixtures with 10 divisions in the US and China. Provided Lean training, support, and strategic guidance that resulted in a 10% improvement in EBIT and $10M in sales growth. Designed a Lean Manufacturing/Business strategy that reduced business complexity and streamlined manufacturing flow, reducing costs and minimizing lead-times. Developed a 5-year strategic plan to increase production output 100% at the L&P plant in Kunshan, China. Created a Lean business turnaround plan for three L&P Canada divisions.

Fayetteville, Arkansas Area

Produced printed documents utilizing 230 people, 20 printing presses and a variety of secondary processing equipment. Achieved a 20% increase in equipment uptime and a 30% reduction in quality complaints through application of Lean / Six Sigma techniques. Resolved plant personnel issues by challenging Union dominance, reestablishing management control.

Paragould, Arkansas

Managed the daily operation of the plant, directing 650+ people in the manufacture of custom metal display fixtures for major retail customers. Introduced Lean Manufacturing principles and concepts to L. A. Darling Company resulting in these operational improvements: Breakeven to 12% EBIT in 18 months. 40% overhead reduction. OTD 70% to 95%+. 30% productivity improvement. 85% of WIP eliminated. 75% lead-time reduction.

Paragould, Arkansas

Led the 700+ person Sunbeam / Oster manufacturing plant producing gas barbecue grills, space heaters and outdoor patio furniture. Implemented the principles of JIT and cellular manufacturing to more than double sales from $30 to $65 million, reduce WIP 80% and cut direct labor per unit 50% to achieve record profitablity. Over $10 million invested in new product introduction and $4 million to expand the warehouse and distribution facility.
