Head of Development (September 2008 to date)A new project for Stagecoach of significantly larger scale than previously untaken by Kraya was green-lighted in the fourth quarter of 2008. I was appointed by Stagecoach to take the role of Project Lead, co-ordinating the input from Kraya, Stagecoach and a third-party agency responsible for the website design. As a result my role grew in scale dramatically. As well as continuing to fulfil all my previous work commitments I was tasked with expanding the development team to include an additional five software developers, a project manager and an account manager. As part of the delivery process I spent a week in New York demonstrating the new system to the senior US and Canadian Megabus management teams.Towards the end of 2009 the first part of the project, the new Canadian Megabus site, was delivered on time and on budget. Part 2, the new Megabus US site was delivered at the beginning of February 2010 with the final part, the UK site, to go live in June 2010.Project Manager/Team Leader (January 2008 – September 2008)Promoted into a management role to improve Kraya’s customer facing side of the business and to allow the Managing Director to concentrate on business development. Typically for a small agency the job entailed several different roles including Account Management and Project Management. I led a team of 3 software developers and a system administrator through several projects, most notably for long-term client Stagecoach and for Edinburgh Festival Fringe, a particularly demanding project.Senior Web Developer (April 2007 – December 2007)Working principally in PHP and Java developing websites, Content Management Systems and applications for clients including Edinburgh Festival Fringe, DM Hall, Scott-Moncrieff, Armitage Shanks.

Over the last 3 years at Kraya my role has rapidly grown from a purely technical position to one encompassing Project Leader, Delivery Manager and Relationship Manager capacities. This has given me extensive, all-round experience of project initiation, scoping, documenting, quoting & financial control, planning, development management, risk management, quality control, testing and delivery management. Up until the Megabus project described below, projects ranged in size from small £5-10K projects up to £100K+, typically following an agile Scrum approach. As Head of the Development Team I have had to maintain a firm hand on project resourcing, both financial and personnel, balancing the demands of client expectations with internal restrictions to deliver projects successfully and profitably. This I have consistently achieved.My position also involves a strong relationship management element. My communication skills and my background in IT enable me to work with colleagues, clients, suppliers and third-party agencies on a variety of levels as required. My success in maintaining good relationships with clients over many years positively reflects my abilities in this area.Clients have included Stagecoach, Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Scott-Moncrieff, Quotient Bioscience,Ideal Standard, Knoll Furniture, Navyblue, Edinburgh Zoo.

us.megabus.comca.megabus.comI headed up a year-long £700k multi-agency project for Stagecoach Group plc to develop new US and Canadian Megabus e-commerce sites. I led the project from inception to successful delivery early this year via a full development lifecycle. The project comprised several parties, each with their own agenda and set of responsibilities: Kraya, handling the application development and data processing; A third party agency carrying out the design and front-end CMS elements; Megabus US & Megabus Canada – the project delivery clients; and the overall project client, Stagecoach Group plc. As project leader I had overall responsibility for co-ordinating all the interested parties using a PRINCE2 project management approach with agile Scrum-based software development, delivering on time and on budget.

Developing internet and CMS solutions in PHP, Java and JSP for clients including Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Boots, DM Hall, Scott-Moncrieff, SLAB, Kenmore, Scottish & Newcastle, Armitage Shanks. Additional roles involved software evaluation & training, Flash & Photoshop design, project management and technical consultancy.

Working within a small team (8 people) providing financial information feeds in various formats. Key roles were developing Sybase stored procedures, transforming data using XML/XSL and Polarlake Integration Suite, maintaining end-to-end data flow environments (WebSphere)

Working in various roles throughout the lifecycle of e-commerce projects of all sizes. My remit varied from project to project but has included working within a team of developers (PHP & Java), acting as a technical authority and liaising with clients including Standard Life Investments, Standard Life Assurance and Standard Life Bank.I have been responsible for requirements gathering and analysis, detailing functional specification, technical architecture and design, code development and testing, quality control reviews, user manual production right through to development and execution of user training.
