I also oversee the Department's strategic planning, financial management, and organizational change, ensuring excellence, innovation, and efficiency in our operations and services.In addition to my clinical role, I am a Professor of Surgery and Global Surgery at Harvard Medical School, where I founded the Program in Global Surgery and Social Change. This program aims to improve access, quality, and affordability of surgical care in low- and middle-income countries through research, education, policy, and advocacy. I have also co-chaired the Lancet Commission on Global Surgery, directed the WHO Collaborating Centre for Surgery and Public Health, and served as an Honorary Professorial Fellow at the University of Melbourne. My multidisciplinary credentials in medicine, dentistry, and business enable me to leverage diverse perspectives and skills to address the challenges and opportunities in global surgery.My mission is to lead value-based healthcare and create a culture of integrity, purpose, compassion, stewardship, and service.
