My first Financial Planning position was in Murray Bridge where I looked after the upper south east, the Mallee and the Riverland areas. A lot of driving! Again, a great experience for this city boy to learn more and more about country life. The opportunity to meet so many different people in vastly different financial positions. It was a life learning experience visiting farms, fruit blocks and vineyards and talking to clients in their own surroundings.Through a restructure I moved back to the city and to Norwood, however still looking after my country branches. Over time, my client base grew where I needed to concentrate just on them and I moved to North Adelaide servicing both city and country clients.While at North Adelaide, an opportunity presented itself to commence a new Financial Planning business with an old established accounting firm, Cleland McFarlane Selth. After months of sleepless nights and many family discussions, I made the move from my ANZ family of nearly 29 years!

I had varying roles with ANZ in Branch Banking. They varied from Batching Clerk, Teller, Relief Officer, Esanda Officer, Accounting Supervisor, Branch Accountant to Branch Manager.My Relief Officer duties took me to many metropolitan and country branches within South Australia, from the south east to the west coast, where I gained significant experience dealing with customers of varying circumstances. My time as Esanda Officer and Accounting Supervisor took me to Darwin in the Northern Territory for nearly four years. Darwin was a great experience for a young man having to grow up away from family and friends, making new long life friends and enjoying a special part of Australia. From Darwin it was back to Adelaide where I worked as Branch Accountant and then Branch Manager until I made the move into Financial Planning. The Bank gave me the opportunity to utilise my personality and provided me with the necessary training to be in the position I am now.
