Joined Ivory in June 2023 when the company was in the closing stages of our application for a general insurance license from APRA. I was tasked by the CFO and Board with building up the Financial Control function in readiness for approval of the license which was subsequently granted in November 2023. The first six months in the role involved mapping out our APRA reporting requirements, Board reporting requirements, understanding the implications of AASB17, creating a Chart of Accounts, finalising our banking arrangements, tax registrations (GST, Stamp Duty, Payroll Tax), defining the control framework for EOM processes and reconciliations. Following receipt of the license moving to operationalise the Finance function with EOM reporting, monthly Board reporting, meeting APRA reporting deadlines, preparation of inaugural set of financial statements, external audit engagement and working with the Appointed Actuary.

Manager of the Financial Accounting function within RACQ's Insurance division. Responsible for statutory reporting including APRA submissions, Board and Committee papers, capital risk management including ICAAP and Recovery Plan, oversight of external partnership arrangements and engagement on reinsurance prgrams.

I have a broad remit over the Finance function for the LGIAsuper group of entities covering all financial accounting, management accounting and budgeting, business partnering, liquidity management, and taxation activities. The role of Manager Finance is a leadership position reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer and a member of the QBANK Management Team and Asset and Liability Committee. I manage a team of five Accountants and am responsible for the Statutory Reporting obligations (Accounting, Taxation & APRA Regulatory Reporting) of all Superannuation Entities administered by Colonial First State Investments Limited, including the company’s flagship FirstChoice Super Fund with FUM exceeding A$70 billion. Additionally my team is also responsible for the Statutory Reporting obligations of the CBA employee superannuation fund Group Super which has FUM of approximately $11 billion. The OSF is a specialised superannuation team within the broader Finance area of the RBA. The OSF is a hybrid superannuation fund with over 2,600 members and $1.2 billion in member assets. My role is within the Policy and Secretariat team reporting directly to the Fund Secretary.Responsibilities• Analyse issues, policies, legislation and accounting standards related to superannuation and their implications;• Prepare papers for the OSF and the Board of Trustees regarding these superannuation policy issues;• Assist to ensure that the Fund meets all of its legislative and regulatory obligations;• Assist the external administrator and OSF management with ensuring that the OSF meets its statutory reporting requirements;• Advise OSF management and Trustees on accounting and tax issues;• Detailed review of all quarterly and annual APRA returns, tax provisions, annual financial statements and income tax return prepared by the external administrator.

My current role is multi-faceted, challenging and enjoyable. As Senior Financial Accountant I am responsible for ensuring accurate and timely lodgement of a client’s Financial Reporting requirements including Financials Statements, Income Tax Returns, Distribution calculations, ABS reporting, APRA reporting and BAS. The clients I work with are some of Australia’s largest Fund managers hence expectations and demands are high.In addition to client deliverables there is a large amount of internal workflow and process improvements to keep things interesting. This ranges from detailed analysis of the general ledger system, keeping up to date with regulatory changes such as TOFA and AASB7, providing input on new software systems to mentoring and training junior staff.

Daily analysis of the cash receipts and payments going through Asset Finance Operations. Provision of a fund statement to the accounting department at close of business outlining the journals required to capture the day's activity.
