What an incredible ride (pun noted)! In just over 2 years there were 4 titles but the job was always the same: ensure the right people were in the right place while creating an environment in which they could thrive. These two years were chock full of opportunities to exponentially stretch my comfort zone including: leading a 1000 person team in the Eastern US to co-leading a national market strategy change. Greatest Learning: Realize when it’s time to put on my own oxygen mask, which usually means asking for help.A High Point: Casting vision for a culture shift and then watching as leaders on the team took ownership and made miracles happen. Why Leave? Worked myself out of a job, literally. The right moves for the team and company were a series of pivots over 9 months that resulted in my most recent role becoming redundant.
  • Sungevity
    Vice President, Outside Sales
    Sungevity Dec 2015 - Mar 2017
    Oakland, California, Us
This 18 month period was a major inflection point in my personal development. Entered a new company at the executive level and was tasked with fully transitioning a nationwide business unit from lead generation to full cycle sales. There were many challenges but the wins were big including a nearly 4x increase in overall company conversion rate and sales per person. Greatest Learning: Realistic time awareness is an art when goal setting.A High Point: Collaborating to create and implement a complete training system for an entirely new business approach. Why Leave? This was a tough one and also a moment of deep learning. The company went bankrupt and nearly a thousand of us were on the street overnight without a safety net. I wrote an article about it (link below).

    Sales Director, Commercial-Smb // Residential
    Solarcity Feb 2014 - Dec 2015

2015: California - Sales Director, Commercial-SMB A huge creative stretch and a ton a fun! Got to spend a year leading the organizational launch of a new business division. This included recruiting and training the sales team, oversight of product and process development, demand generation efforts and creation of a standard operating model/playbook for sales. The team crushed expectations out of the gate! 2014: Southern California & Hawaii - Sales Director, ResidentialMy first opportunity to lead a team of managers. Started out with a team of 3 managers and 17 individual contributors and grew to 15 managers with an overall team of just under 300 in one year. Not only were we the fastest growing group in the organization we moved from the bottom quartile to the top (out of 20 groups) in revenue contribution and profitability metrics. This year held some of the toughest lessons I’ve learned about the difference between nice and kind.
