I am currently writing a PhD on the role played by tradition, kinship and social identity in the durability of violent dissident republicanism. I lecture at universities and military academies on terrorism and national security. I am also a regular contributor to RTE, Virgin One, BBC, UTV and Sky. I have written and edited several non-fiction books and produced two television series about organised crime, terrorism and politics.I am a member of the review board at the International Center for the Study of Violent Extremism (ICSVE) in Washington.
