As the Chief Executive Officer of the Institute for Human Rights and Business (IHRB) since 2009, I have been leading a global "think and do" tank that aims to provide greater clarity on the roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities of business and government in advancing human rights. With over 20 years of experience in the field of business and human rights, I have advised multiple governments, companies, and international organizations on responsible business, trade, and development issues.I am author of "The Just Transition: a systems-thinking approach to climate action" (2024) as well as "The Social License: how to keep your organisation legitimate" (2014) (both for Palgrave MacMillan), and co-author of "The trafficking and smuggling of refugees into Europe: the endgame in European Asylum Policy" (2000) (UNHCR). I have published several articles and reports on various topics related to human rights, such as asylum, sport, climate, and equality. I serve on several advisory boards and councils, such as the World Economic Forum, the John Lewis Partnership, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and the UK Export Finance. I am passionate about promoting the respect and protection of human rights in all aspects of business and society.
