Per 1 januari 2023 ben ik na 24 jaar dienstverband partner geworden van Klous + Brandjes. Ons bureau biedt in 2 sub disciplines haar diensten, bouwkundig advies en Architectuur onder rep. de namen Klous + Brandjes BouwAdvies en Klous + Brandjes Architecten. Daarnaast werken wij intensief samen met ons partnerbureau BrandjesvanBaalen welke renovatie, restauratie en revitalisatie projecten aanpakt. Met deze 3e disciplinen kunnen wij full-service de gehele markt bedienen.

In addition to my work activities, I am also an instructor and coach for our Klous + Brandjes BIM Academy, where we train unemployed construction engineers to be excellent modellers free of charge. We then post these people on secondment to parties that want to start working with BIM, but lack the facilities. During the economic crisis, we have helped 19 job seekers find a steady job, some of which at our own offices.We offer this training to people who have the right mentality for integration into our organization, and who also add value to the cooperations we form with the different partners in BIM.At this moment, the second lot of 6 trainees are reaching the end of the six month course. We aim to start a third training course in September.The software needed for the course has been made available by Cad & Company. Klous + Brandjes provides the classrooms, facilities, lessons and hardware.The future BIMmers also participate in a coaching course with Uitendaal Coaching. This course focuses on creating competence profiles and developing soft skills, to help the model maker be the perfect team member for any organization.

Working from Klous + Brandjes BouwAdvies, I am active as external BIM manager. I support and coach those that use BIM and manage and coordinate the workflow and clash detection. In this role, I link IFC models from different BIM partners together and create and deliver the corresponding clash detections in Solibri. I also aim to deliver optimal support to the staff of these companies so nothing impedes their participation in the BIM process.In addition, I support companies that want to implement Revit and BIM. I can use my knowledge of the building process, gained through project management and supervision, to optimize a BIM process.I also work for international clients to support BIM projects on the west coast of the US. The BIM workflow developed for this client has now been rolled out for several projects in Europe and the US.

When the economic crisis hit the building industry, the opportunity arose for us to offer our knowledge and services to home owners' associations. Most of the associations employ a management party of course, but we can make a difference due to our vast experience. Klous + Brandjes has been building since the sixties, so we have an in-depth knowledge of almost all facets of the building industry. This knowledge of all types of buildings, both old and modern, means we can respond to the different constructional questions from the home owners' association. We also oversee any invitations to tender and their evaluation. I myself manage an Amsterdam canal house and three residential buildings in Haarlem. I have enjoyed doing this for several years now.

As Klous + Brandjes Architecten project manager, I manage all types of projects from development to execution. I also manage medium to large projects, the utilities and other project related subjects.Besides project management, I very much enjoy inventing and monitoring work processes. Some years ago Klous + Brandjes was split up into Klous + Brandjes Architecten and Klous + Brandjes BouwAdvies.

In addition to my position at Klous + Brandjes I also run my own construction consultancy, and from as early as 1998 I have been helping private individuals with small scale buildings and extensions.

At the start of the second launch of this project, I coordinated the collection of data, locations and requirements. This in close partnership with the Haarlem city council.

During my technical education at the MTS, I took a year off and worked long hours drawing ribbed floors for all types of projects. After this year I went back to school for the final year to graduate.
